Quick Announcement & A Favour

November 29, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye
IMG_1878.JPG

I’ll be sharing the link to our latest music video and single very soon. But first I need to ask you a favour…

We’re really close to wrapping up our long-awaited Single BETTER. We will be releasing worldwide but before we do, I would like to ask you a few questions to help improve our musical sound going forward.

QUESTIONS:
1. What do you think songs should be talking about?
2. How does music make a difference in your life?
3. And what would you like to hear more of in today’s music?

If you can answer these brief survey questions in the comments or by just tagging me on Social media it would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to reading your comments.

Download vs Upload

In our fast food consumption culture it’s easy to get sucked in. Consumption is easy. We consume more content, download more videos, podcasts, PDFs, pictures. More, more, more. Click, click, click.

But what if we decided to swim upstream.

Taking the path of more resistance. Walking the road of the artist.

Instead of consuming, we are creating. Uploading our art, sharing our songs. Spreading our ideas. Giving instead of taking.

Wouldn’t that be an interesting twist?

My new single just dropped. You can check it out here.

BETTER
(E. Aboagye, B. Duba, T. Adamek)
Thesis: The tragic tale of women abuse and how courage is needed to change it.
-----------------------------------------------------
Intro:
Breaking your heart, breaking your soul
You say you got it, but he is still in control
Trapped in the dark, stuck in this hole
But you still hold on when you should just let him go

[V1]
Okay, I’ve had enough let’s cut to the chase
Black eye, tears dried; left arm in a brace
Got me wondering when last I saw a smile on your face
That beautiful face; I tell you girl your man’s out of place
I know I’m out of place too; it’s none of my business
Don’t mean to pry or intrude, but how can I witness, such a crime, see the signs and not do nuttin ‘bout it.
I know you got pride girl, so don’t you live without it, for a second
How long do you reckon you can carry on this way, every day it’s the same, promises he’ll change
And I know you know he cheats on you, that’s why he’s acting strange;
Leave him behind, so that his fists are out of range

Pre-chorus:
You know it’s time that you let him go
And it’s time that you climbed out the rabbit hole
Believe you’re beautiful and then it’s time to take control, of your life
I thought it’s time that I let you know, I’m ‘a let you know...
Chorus:
Just let him go... Girl I promise you that you can do so much (better) x3
I want you to know... I can show you love, and I’ll treat you so much (better) x3

[V2]
But that's what you were raised to do
Stick it out, or stick it through
You say you keep on holding on
Because your kids depend on you
It's wrong the way he's treating you
Every day he is beating you
You fight but he keeps defeating you
Inside I know it's eating you alive
Every day is a struggle to survive
But you deserve better girl so don't believe the lies
When he tries, to belittle you and cut you down to size
Things will get better when you start to realize
That you are more than a conqueror
So never let him conqueror ya
You were meant to move mountains with the spirit that’s inside of ya
Coz you are fearfully and wonderfully made
And it ain't gonna be easy girl but don't be afraid

Pre-chorus:
You know it’s time that you let him go
And it’s time that you climbed out the rabbit hole
Believe you’re beautiful and then it’s time to take control, of your life
I thought it’s time that I let you know, I’m ‘a let you know...
Chorus:
Just let him go...
I promise you that you can do so much (better) x3
I want you to know... I can show you love, and I’ll treat you so much (better) x3

Bridge X2:
Pack your bags and get out (Better)
Take control of your life (Better)
Never look back (you’re getting better)
Every day now (it's getting better)
(Better) x3
Chorus:
Just let him go...
I promise you that you can do so much (better) x3
I want you to know... I can show you love, and I’ll treat you so much (better) x3

Opening the DAW to your music career

November 1, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye
DAW - Digital Audio Workspace

DAW - Digital Audio Workspace

So which music production software is the best? Well the short answer is:

It kind of depends.

Honestly, I wish the answer was a simple one but I realise how complicated it can be. And really there is no one size fits all.

I would like to pause for a minute, just to emphasise the importance of selecting the right DAW in terms of your music career.

If you can afford a Ferreira then why not - Right!

But if your only purpose for having a Ferreira is to go to the grocery store to buy milk and bread in your pajamas. Then, it may be over kill.

Not to mention the pot holes or speed humps you will need to avoid.

So pick one and run with it. At the end of the day it is a tool to get you where you need to go. And the more familiar you are with your tools the faster you can go.

Moving pieces (Project Management 101)

October 5, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye
IMG_1666.JPG

The toughest thing but also the most rewarding thing about being a project manager is that you depend on other people to do the actual work. Yes, you plot the course, set the milestones and remind the team of the deadlines. But ultimately your success is often determined by the teams performance.

Like a professional coach or business owner, a large part of your work goes unseen. And it can all fall a part or come together while you stand on the sidelines cheering your players on and directing their movements.

You need to anticipate the next move constantly and the quicker you learn the ins-and-outs the better for you and the lifecycle of your project.

Every move has a desired outcome.

Know the players.

Understand the game.

Learn the strategies.

Real entrepreneurs don't have time for pitty parties

September 13, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye
IMG_1057.JPG

So, not too long ago I sat in on a break-away workshop discussing small businesses in incubators and the whole business development hub movement that has become quite popular. And frankly, I was stunned and little bit saddened by what I heard.

Granted, that sadness probably changed to anger and annoyance pretty quick.

The majority of the wanna-preneurs in the room lacked a basic ingredient that is essential to starting and growing a business. HUSTLE.

They would rather complain about the lack of funding government is giving. Or focus on what business hubs and incubators are doing wrong with their selection process.

Really...

Is it worth dragging business leaders, real entrepreneurs and thought leaders into a room only to throw a Pitty-Party?

Blaming them for why your business is not succeeding.

REALLY!?

Let me answer that for you. No it is not!

If you are focused on the right things:

1. Adding value to your customers.

2. Adding value to your team or building a team if you don't have one yet.

3. Creating products and services that will drive home that value.

4. Developing systems and processes that make it easier to do your jobs.

5. Marketing. Because nobody knows your business better than you.

Those problems, those discussions are worth having and worth bringing people together.

Time; Is the greatest equalizer. It is also your greatest asset. Don't waste it on things you have no power to change.

STAY HUMBLE & HUSTLE HARD.

Can Music Make A Difference?

September 12, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye

It's always a daunghting feeling. When you have all of your ideas, emotions, fears and doubts staring back at you from a blank page or canvas.

But you know that you must act because that's the only thing that gets rid of your fear and can bring you new energy.  ACTION.

And the question I've had on my mind lately is: Can music really make a difference?

Words - And the power to communicate

June 30, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye
IMG_1154.JPG

Often it seems that communication is the key. Well that's because it usually is. It gets things done.

The President says the words. And a country goes to war.

She says; I Do! And your world changes forever.

"LET THERE BE LIGHT". And the world was created.

If you communicate well your team can enjoy victory and make a difference. If you fail to communicate effectively, then you can't expect much from your team.

The level of your communication can determine the success or failure of any undertaking.

Communication; is a powerful tool that is used by leaders to get things done. From Presidents, to Queens, Coaches to Pastors, Business Leaders to Managers. All need to use and carefully measure the effectiveness of their words.

God spoke the world into being. And indeed we are made in his image.

Words are a powerful tool. Now the question is, What are you going to do with them?

Why I don't like gatekeepers and you shouldn't either

June 5, 2017 Emmanuel Aboagye
GateKeepers

Unless they work for you or the party is yours, security can usually be a pain.

Don't get me wrong. Bouncers, security, secretaries, gatekeepers are all useful and valuable to most organizations.

It makes you feel important. It gives an air of exclusivity. You made it. You are in the "in-crowd" .

But here is the thing, when you create a "Tribe" you are not looking to keep people out. Rather your worldview and culture begins to naturally attract people of the same mind and repel those that don't agree. It leaves little room for bystanders and expects your involvement.

In an era where we are seeing dictators and traditional gatekeepers fall at a rapid rate.

What do you want to create, a VIP club or a community - a Tribe?
